Make a water filter

Did you know...There is the same amount of water on Earth as there was when the planet was formed. Believe it or not, the water you drink could share the same molecules that dinosaurs drank, one of our favourite Mini Professors fact!

To make your filter system you will need
- A large, plastic water bottle
- A small square of cloth that fits over the bottle neck
- An elastic band
- For extra filtration, a coffee filter.

This activity encourages children to pour and measure and for older children to understand the water cycle and how we get clean water for drinking. The water won't be the cleanest due to the size of some particles getting through the system but this is perfect to discuss with your child and talk about particles that are there but are so small we can't see them.

*Please note, this water will not be safe for drinking
