Summer Science Special: Bees

When? Tuesday 9th August and Tuesday 16th August at 10am-12pm

Where? Bee Happy Play Cafe, Peterlee

Come along to Bee Happy we will be learning all about one of our world's most important insects, the bee, including learning a waggle dance, examining bee patterns, making your own bee to take home and becoming bees to make a beehive. After the class, there is also a play session at Bee Happy and the café will be open too for lots of tasty treats!

This class and play session is £10 for adults with siblings £6. Booking for these classes is through Bee Happy's website:

Summer Science: Trains

When? Thursday 11th August at 1.30pm (2-7 years)

Where? Grange Villa Community Enterprise/Dream Big Role Play

This is the perfect class if you have a little one with a fascination with trains! Come along and learn all about how trains move, challenge yourself to build a bridge for your train to travel across and experiment with magnets with our racing trains!

With this class, you can also play at Dream Big Role Play next door for free from 12.30pm with a purchase from the café. 

 

Outdoor Summer Science: Flowers

When? Monday 15th August at 9.30am (2-5 years) and 10.30am (4-7 years)

Where? Durham Botanic Gardens

Come along to the beautiful setting of Durham Botanic Gardens for this outdoor science special all about flowers! Take part in a flower dissection as we examine the different parts of a flower, make a flower model to take home and experiment with how flowers absorb water. Plus, you can explore the gardens afterwards to see how many different flowers you can spot! 

Admission to the Botanic Gardens must be paid separately- this is £4 per person (under 5s free) or free for Durham University staff members or annual pass holders. 

 

Summer Science: Trains

When? Monday 22nd August at 9.30am (2-5 years) and 10.45am (4-7 years)

Where? Sherburn Hill Community Hub

This is the perfect class if you have a little one with a fascination with trains! Come along and learn all about how trains move, challenge yourself to build a bridge for your train to travel across and experiment with magnets with our racing trains!

After the class, why not stay at the Hub with a visit to the on site café, the community library or the outdoor pirate-themed play area too!

 

Summer Science: Space taster

When? Thursday 25th August at 12pm

Where? Woodland Play Patch, Fencehouses

Come along to this mini-session all about space as we look at the different parts of our Solar System and make a rocket to launch into space!
